International Women’s Day & Women’s March

On International Women’s Day, March 8th:  Women and our allies will mark the day by recognizing the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system, while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity.

You can join A Day Without A Woman on March 8th in one or all of the following ways:

  1. Women take the day off, from paid and unpaid labor;
  2. Avoid shopping for one day (with exceptions for small, women- and minority-owned businesses).
  3. Wear RED in solidarity with A Day Without A Woman.

Women's March in OaklandWomen’s March Activities:   You  can follow up on by signing up at their website for email alerts:  https://www.womensmarch.com/

Every ten days for one hundred days The Women’s March will announce an action that you can participate in to mobilize and demand that our elected officials hear our voices.

As an official partner of the Women’s March, AAUW supports these actions and encourages you to participate!

In February, we were asked to gather together in “huddles” to define next steps, and envision how to transform the energy we saw at Women’s Marches into local and national action. You can still participate in or lead a Huddle: go to https://www.womensmarch.com/100/
