Alexa Cafe

As the world’s #1 tech camp for kids and teens since 1999, we’re constantly dreaming up new ways to spark students’ love for technology—it’s why we’ve created Alexa Café for girls.  Collaboration takes place in small, close-knit clusters, and BIG ideas come to life around café tables.  With an emphasis on entrepreneurship, leadership, brand identity, and empowerment, you’ll build tech skills in a unique, stylish setting, alongside tech-savvy mentors.

Our all-girls summer camp features weeklong day and overnight sessions, personalized instruction, and a maximum of just 8 students per instructor. Whether you’re designing a sleek webpage or learning to code creatively, technology shouldn’t be intimidating or uninspired.  In the right environment, it’s cool.  Meaningful.  Life-changing.  Learn more about the impact of Alexa Café and join the movement!

Play-Well TEKnologies Engineering and Robotics using LEGO®

TextSpace Bar A-Z L Holder

Since 1997, kids have been diving into our classes and exercising their innate gift for building. They come away understanding fundamental principles of engineering and physics. The experience boosts their confidence, creativity and ability to collaborate.

These hands-on camps are engineer-designed to help kids build on the math and science skills learned in school, all through the medium of LEGO®. We bring over 20,000 pieces and parts so that kids can explore the endless creative possibilities of this awesome building system, with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.

Weekly half-day camps for ages 5-13 typically run from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm and range between $175-$299, depending on curriculum and location (full-day camps available at some locations). We run programs at Recreation Departments, YMCAs, JCCs, Summer Schools, and Learning Centers in Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont, Alameda, San Leandro, Hayward, and beyond from June 5th through August 25th.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for on our website, please reach out directly to our Alameda County Area Manager at Lauren@play-well.org.

*We also run enrichment, in-class workshops, and parties throughout the rest of the year!*

Project Ember

At Project Ember, we build BIG. Campers will learn to safely use professional power tools in order to tackle a surprise design challenge. The week is spent ideating, building, testing, and improving the design, and of course, showing it off. Though every week is unique, one thing is guaranteed: kids will always be able to get in, climb on or operate creations of their very own design. Check out past projects like the car wash or the Port of Oakland on our blog, projectember.org/our-blog

This summer, you’ll find Project Ember in Menlo Park and Berkeley. Day Camps for rising 2 – 8 graders run Monday-Friday from 9:30 am -3:00 pm. Extended care, scholarships, and discounts are available. And don’t miss out on Project Ember Overnight for rising 5-12 graders, August 6th – 12th, tucked in the Occidental Redwoods.

Find the dates that work for you family on our website.

“I would whole-heartedly recommend this camp for any kiddos, girls or boys, builders or not. It was clear to me all week that the instructors were incredibly thoughtful, knowledgeable, and caring about child development, community-building, and safety…My son is doing many camps this summer but he keeps asking if he can just go back to Project Ember!” – Susan D.
