Camp Chrysalis
Now in its 34th year, Camp Chrysalis has developed a distinctive approach to environmental education, offering children (8.5-17 years of age) rich experiences that combine recreation, learning, woodworking, crafts, and personal growth. We camp in three spectacular environments: Big Sur redwoods, Mendocino coastal tidepools and Sierra Nevada mountains. We focus on active study of these environments to develop natural science skills as well as appreciation, and on basic camping and wilderness skills. Our campers’ exploration is as much of their own developing abilities and each other as of what the world has to offer. Our very conscious mentoring of young people is one of the big draws of the camp as campers develop a strong knit and caring community of learners. We divide the campers into four small family groups of mixed gender and ages. In these small groups, they enjoy working and playing together, and taking care of us all. Each session includes approximately 36 campers (12 for backpacking) and eight to nine experienced staff. Fully half are girls! Our experienced counselors offer individual attention to campers with a camper:staff ratio of 4:1. Doodle
It’s time that summer camp evolved. Welcome to Doodle, the un-camp summer camp. We are a creativity incubator for kids, where they grow their creative intelligence (CIQ) through making. Not just talking about it – actually, truly making tangible things that can empower both their minds and their self-esteem.We’re a place where kids come to create Minecraft® inspired glow-in-the-dark visual art that disrupts the way people live and think for a hack-a-thon type week. We’re a place where kids reinvent how they eat breakfast (seriously). We’re a “become-a-maker, use-actual-hammers-and-tools-to-create-stuff, get-out-there-and-do-it” playground for today’s kids. We’re a place where kids make real things using real tools based on research-based curriculum – not cotton balls glued to Popsicle sticks and a bunch of buzzwords.* ALL NEW PROGRAMS
