Cooking Round the World Summer Camp!
Cooking Round the World is the juncture where cooking and cultural education embrace. We educate boys and girls about countries around the world and American states using cooking to celebrate diversity and embrace difference. Each camp day we cook and eat 4 – 8 recipes, read a folktale, play an international/national folk game, teach language and geography, observe a cooking demonstration, and learn to think critically about the foods we just cooked. In the afternoon we see a slide presentation, play a trivia game and play our version of the TV show “Chopped” or bake desserts. The program is completely hands-on; everyone peels or chops or dices or minces. We believe in cooking with whole foods and having the children do the prep work themselves.Cooking Camp is for boys and girls ages 6 – 13. Full day hours are 9 – 4 pm, with pre-care available from 8 – 9 am. Cost is $485/week full day; $350/week for half day (9 – 1 pm). No individual days of camp are offered.Campers come away from a Cooking Round the World experience with respect for difference, a broadened palate, and a desire to become a citizen of the world! Educational! Delicious! Fun!http://www.cookingroundtheworld.com |
